Willie Edward Richardson, 95, died at home Tuesday, February 2, 2016. He was born June 12, 1920 and was a life long resident of James City County, Virginia. Willie was a devoted member of James River Baptist Church for over 80 years.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Eleanor Browning Richardson, and brothers, Clarence, James, John, and Earl Richardson.
He was the beloved father of his children Bill Richardson (Bess) of Dendron, Virginia, Larry Richardson (Penny), Gerald Richardson (Mona), and Sharon Dunn (Robert) all of James City Co, Virginia. He also leaves to cherish his memory 11 grandchildren, Mary Anna R. Hartley and Paul Richardson, Andy, Michael and Jonathan Richardson, Kurt, Brent and Tim Richardson, Melanie Cooke, Kristina George and Laura Dunn; along with 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Madeline Hogge, and brothers, Robert and Lang Richardson of James City Co.
He was a World War II veteran and served in Australia and New Guinea. At a young age, Willie began working with his father and brothers at the J.N. Richardson & Sons Lumber Company, where he continued to work for over 65 years. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid gardener he loved sharing his produce with others, especially his tomatoes.
The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10 a.m. at James River Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
