Veronica Canavan Eckert, age 83, of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 14, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Captain John David Eckert US Navy (Ret.); loving mother of Fiona (Charles) O’Brien of Tucson, AZ and Heather Eckert of Williamsburg, VA; cherished grandmother of Collin and Molly O’Brien of Tucson, AZ; and sister of Marie (Freddy) Pickering of England and Shelagh (James) Arett of Canada. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family residing in both England and Canada. Mrs. Eckert is a member of St. Olaf catholic Church, the W omens Club, and the Red Hatters.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 1:30PM until time of Blessing Service at 3:00PM at Bucktrout Funeral Home, 4124 Ironbound Rd., Williamsburg (757) 229-3822. A Mass and Interment will be held at a later date at Ft. Myer Old Post Chapel and Arlington National Cemetery.
