Robert Ray Nodler (Bob) peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023. Robert was born on October 26, 1937, in Kansas City Kansas to Gail Murdick and Robert C. Nodler. He graduated from Wyandotte High School, where ran track and played football and baseball. After high school, he attended Washington University in St. Louis, Emporia State and Rockhurst College before being drafted into the United States Army. While stationed in Richmond Virginia and in 1962, he met the love of his life, Gayle and were married for a few months short of 61 years. After his discharge from the Army, Bob started working at Deluxe Check Printers in Kansas City where he spent his entire thirty-year working career in accounting first as the regional Accounting Manager in Kansas City and then moving to St. Paul Minnesota as the Corporate Controller and Vice President before retiring in 1992. After his retirement, Bob and Gayle moved to Hanover Virginia for a couple of years before settling in Williamsburg Virginia for the past 28 years. Bob is survived by his wife Joyce Gayle Dyson of Williamsburg, Virginia, sons Robert Charles Nodler II of Hanover, Virginia, and Kevin Ray Nodler of Lake Forest Illinois and four grandchildren Samuel Ray Nodler of Minneapolis Minnesota, Jack Joseph Nodler of St. Paul Minnesota, Maggie Grace of Fort Pierce Florida and Charlotte Rae Nodler of Lake Forest Illinois, brother George Nodler of Gladstone Missouri and sister Kay Elliott of North Kansas City. Bob spent his life with his beloved dogs by his side and daily walks including Princess, Jake, Mickey and finally Bocephus. Services provided by Bucktrout Funeral Home will commence at 12 Noon on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Williamsburg Virginia. In lieu of flowers, Bob would prefer donations to your local animal shelter.
