Richard Michael Svadeba, age 63, passed away peacefully Friday, September 15, 2023. Richard was a loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rose and George Svadeba, and his brother, George Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Svadeba; two daughters, Tara Brooks and husband, Ryan, Haley Gaston and husband Joseph; son, Hunter Svadeba; stepdaughter, Riley Dean; grandchildren, Collins, Whitt, and Leighton; three sisters, Jeannie Trainum and husband, Scott, Kathy Wilmouth, and Linda Woodard; and many nieces and nephews. He was adored by his friends and family and was a respected member of the community.

Richard was born on March 17, 1960 in Williamsburg, VA. He attended Virginia Tech, then returned home and began his career with the James City County Fire Department. He served as a paramedic and firefighter, as well as part of the dive team. In addition, he was a member of FEMA Virginia Task Force-2, traveling to various places to help those in need.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 19, from 5:30-7pm at Bucktrout Funeral Home in Williamsburg. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 20, during the 9am service at St. Bede’s on Ironbound Rd. followed by the burial at Williamsburg Memorial Park. Afterwards, a celebration of life will take place at Frothy Moon Brewery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to JCC Fire Department or American Cancer Society.
