Randall (Randy) L. Halverson, 88, long time resident of Annandale and Lake of the Woods,
Virginia, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 7, 2023 in Williamsburg, VA. He was born to Leonard and Louise Rose Halverson on July 2, 1934 in Decorah, IA and was the loving husband of Alice Ann Halverson. They were married for 63 years. Together they raised 4 children, James Matthew Halverson, Margaret (Meg) Louise Berry, Lisette Ann Manchester, and William Edward Uhrmacher.

Randy was a graduate of Decorah High School in Decorah, IA. He attended Luther College and Iowa State University where he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a stellar athlete lettering in 4 sports in high school, football, baseball, basketball and track, and going on to play collegiate football. He was a proud Phi Psi alum. He continued to pursue sports throughout his life, playing championship handball and enjoying golf. Randy used his engineering degree to build a career in telecommunications. The systems he designed and marketed to both corporations and nations led to years of travel, domestic and international. Randy and Alice Ann enjoyed seeing the world together, were both fun loving and outgoing and made many dear friends over the years. They enjoyed entertaining friends and family, backyard crab boils, Redskins football, Bullets basketball, bridge games and vactions at Nags Head, NC. Their retirement years were spent at Lake of the Woods in Locust Grove, Virginia. Randy retained his sense of humor, good looks, beautiful head of hair and sparkling blue eyes throughout his life. He was a Christian of great faith and member of Lake of the Woods Church.

Randy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice Ann (Eschenheimer) Halverson, his parents, Leonard Halverson and Louise Rose (Swehla) Halverson, brother, Russ Halverson, sister, Colleen Halverson, step-son, William Uhrmacher and grandson Joey Bihn. He is survived by son, James Matthew Halverson of Newport News, VA, daughter, Margaret (Meg) Berry of Williamsburg, VA, step-daughter Lisette Manchester of Freeland, WA, granddaughters, Lisette Foster, Lindsey Mosley and Kelly Lindemuth, brothers, Gaylon Halverson and Bob Halverson, and sister, Jeanne (Halverson) Kummrow. Randy and Alice Ann have also been blessed with 8 great grandchildren.

A family gathering will be held to celebrate Randy’s life at a date yet to be determined. Randy’s contributions to charity over the years have been many and varied. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. Online condolences may be offered to the family at Bucktrout Funeral Home in Williamsburg, VA.
