Gifts & Memorial Donations

Rachel Ingalls passed away peacefully on October 19, 2012, with her children by her side in Williamsburg.

She was born on May 22, 1947 in Washington, DC to Richard Henry Logsdon and Irene Kupfer Logsdon. They moved shortly after to New Jersey where she spent most of her childhood. She graduated from Barnard College in 1970 with an A.B. in American Studies before moving to New Yorkís Westchester County and later Stamford, Connecticut where she raised her 3 children and worked as a Legal Assistant and Paralegal at various law firms.

Rachel enjoyed the simple pleasures in life including reading, gardening and crafts. She was an exceptional cook and knit and quilted beautiful creations for her family and friends. As the ìfamily historian,î she also devoted many hours with great interest to her family genealogy. She retired and moved to Williamsburg in 2005 where she was able to enthusiastically re-engage herself in American studies through involvement in Colonial Williamsburg and her studies with the Christopher Wren Association. Above all, she loved the time she spent with her grandchildren playing games and engaging in lively discussions.

Rachel is survived by her children, Liesl McNamara, Keith Ingalls and Kate Jones; her 7 grandchildren; her sisters, Mary Jo Nichols, Liz Promen and brother, John Logsdon.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to www.history.org/donate.
