Pollyanna Zirkle Henry, a 67-year resident of Williamsburg , passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013 in Williamsburg Virginia following a rich & meaningful life.

Born in Mount Jackson, VA, March 27, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Ira I. Zirkle and Ola Will Zirkle. Pollyanna graduated from Triplett High School and afterwards was a trained beautician. In 1946, she moved to Williamsburg to join her high school sweetheart & groom, Charles (Charlie) Henry, where she worked in the beauty shop for officerís wives at Camp Peary. Upon starting their family, she was a homemaker & mother.

She was an active and devoted member of James River Baptist Church in Williamsburg for over 60 years. Throughout her life, Polly gave her time, talent and service to God and the church. Those capacities included, sunday school teacher and working with the Youth. Her love for cooking was shared for decades with countless platters of fried chicken, potato salad, cakes, pies and homemade ice cream.

Mrs. Henry had a midlife career as cafeteria manager at Matthew Whaley Elementary School. She was affectionately known to children as ìMiss Polly.î She retired in 1986 after 20 years of service.

Beyond her enthusiasm for her husband, Charlie and raising their family, her interests included cooking, flower arranging and board & card games.

Left to cherish her memories is her husband of 68 years, Charlie; daughters, Nancy and her husband Ed Owenby, Linda and her husband, Rev. Dave Huckins; and son, Chuck (C.A.) Henry. Beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Owenby Tormey, Michael Huckins, Matthew Huckins & Samuel Huckins and 8 great-grandchildren. Sister, Jean Zirkle Hottle and sister-in-law Margaret Zirkle.

Polly was also preceded by her brother, Beverly I. Zirkle..

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 31 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bucktrout Funeral Home of Williamsburg, 4124 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188-2632

A funeral service & burial will be held at James River Baptist Church on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 11835 Fishing Point Drive, Newport News, VA 23606
