Pauline Cooke Schaub

September 9, 1926 - February 12, 2024

Pauline Cooke Schaub, of Williamsburg, VA passed peacefully on February 12, 2024.  She relocated to Williamsburg sixteen years ago after living the majority of her life in Raleigh, NC.  She was born September 9, 1926 in Elizabethtown, NC and was raised in Bladen County, the oldest of seven siblings. Pauline moved to Raleigh in her early twenties, where she worked independently as a cosmetologist until age 72. While in Raleigh, she met and married Ira Obed Schaub, Jr., in 1948. In life, Pauline loved to travel, read, the theater, and really had a knack for interior design. She loved hosting friends and family gatherings, and showed all those who entered her home her warm southern hospitality. She was an active leader in the Laurel Hills Garden Club, Raleigh Moravian Church, and steadfastly cared for her parents, in-laws, and husband as illnesses took place.

Pauline was preceded in death by her husband Ira and her siblings, Robert, Morris, Ben, and Jeannette. She is survived by her son, Marc Schaub, Sr. (Robin) of Alpharetta, GA; daughter, Kimberly S. Miller (Ross) of Williamsburg, VA; sisters, Pam Sessoms (Henry) and Wanda Bass of Bladenboro, NC; three grandchildren, Marc Schaub, Jr. (Carrie) of Advance, NC, Dean Schaub (Olivia) of Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Lara Bayles (Joe) of Bel Air, MD.  Pauline is also survived by five great-grandchildren she cherished deeply; Carly Schaub, Aaron and Miriam Schaub, and Joanna and Catherine Bayles.

Pauline’s family asks that those who wish to celebrate her life, in lieu of flowers, make donations to Riverside Hospice Foundation, 856 J. Clyde Morris Blvd, Suite C, Newport News, VA  23601, online:, Gift Destination, Hospice Care Fund; or charity of your choice.  A private, grave-side service will be held at a later date, per her wishes.
