Nadia D. Lasher, 91, of Patriots Colony in Williamsburg passed away peacefully on the 26th of March, 2022. She was born and raised in Nutley, NJ, and graduated as Valedictorian from Nutley High School. Nadia graduated from Vassar College in 1952 with a degree in psychology and married her college sweetheart, Donald that same summer. She was the consummate Army wife as she and Don moved around the country and overseas for 30 years. She kept the family strong through Don’s deployments during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Her family knew her as the quintessential cook and hostess. Her penchant for exquisite entertaining was enhanced by her voracious reading of various cookbooks and Gourmet magazines along with classes at the Culinary Institute of America. She also spent many years as a substitute teacher for elementary and special education classes. Nadia volunteered generously with numerous organizations such as the Army Community Service, and faith-based groups in the Catholic Church.
Nadia is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Donald, her father, A. Theodore DeMuro, mother, Linda (St. Thomas) DeMuro, brother, Theodore (Ted) DeMuro, and infant sons Donald and David. She is survived by her sons, Robert and William, daughters-in-law Linda and Pamela, and grandchildren, Christopher, Richard, and Caroline, and great grandchild, Eva.
Her family will hold a memorial service at Bucktrout Funeral home at 1PM on Saturday the 23rd of April 2022. She and her husband, Major General Donald R. Lasher, will be interred at the West Point, NY cemetery on June 29th, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions in Nadia’s name to St. Bede Catholic Church at https://bedeva.org/www.bedeva.org/online-giving.
