Mrs. Patricia M. Vaughan

Gifts & Memorial Donations

On Sunday July 17, 2022, Patricia “Pat” Mareydt Vaughan, loving wife and mother of four children, passed away at the age of 81. Patricia was born on December 24, 1940, in Detroit, MI; the daughter of the late Albert and Madeline (Piceu) Mareydt. On September 7, 1963, she married John Clark Vaughan III. She received her master’s in education from Purdue University in 1968 after finishing her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, where she was President of her Chi Omega sorority.

While raising her four children and supporting her husband in his Air Force career, Pat and her husband thrived after starting their own personal marketing business. The business took them around the world and created life-long friendships. One of her greatest strengths and joys was helping others to achieve their dreams. Her passion for family, faith, friends, and personal connections was a constant driving force that attracted people to her, and her to them. Within five minutes you felt that Pat was someone special and she knew immediately that you were too.

There was never holding back when it came to Pat’s life. She gave it her all, all the time. She lived her dreams especially when it came to her family and grandchildren. From Disney to her precious Outer Banks, she would be the first to put on a Dr. Suess hat and the first one with her toes in the sand.

Patricia is survived by her husband John and children Julie (Phil), John IV (Tanya), Michael (Trisha), and Richard (Maria); her grandchildren Emily (Miric), Graham, Ian, Sophia, Charlie, John V and Morgan; and her sister Carol Bruno and her children Jay, Jennifer, Joann, Charles, Joyce, and Judy.

The family is receiving visitors on 27 July 2022 at Bucktrout Funeral home from 4-8pm at 4121 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23188. Funeral services will be held on 28 July 2022 at St. Bede Catholic Church at 3686 Ironbound Rd at 12:00pm. Interment to follow at Arlington National Cemetery.

Heartfelt appreciation for the decades of support by Rhonda Dunkum, the loving care of Dr. Kruger, and the care givers of hospice. Gifts in lieu of flowers may be given in loving memory of Patricia Vaughan to the Van Andel Institute in support of cancer research. https://give.vai.org/page/42677/donate/1

Jeanne Hopple and Melissa Hopple says:
Pat was a wonderful, beautiful gracious woman that we always enjoyed getting together with her and her wonderful, gracious husband John Vaughn, and host of Amway functions for IBOs including myself, my mother Jeanne Hopple and my father, Bill Hopple and many of our Amway IBOs downline in our group. Actually, my father, Bill Hopple loved the golf course he was invited to play on in Williamsburg, at the Amway function in Williamsburg that year as he was a PGA teaching golf professional when we all went to the Amway function that year. All of our Amway downline IBOs and my mother, father and our downline had a fabulous time that weekend. My father won the closest to the pin award on the last hole of the golf course that evening and was so happy. We always loved our Amway IBOs functions and loved meeting up with our dear gracious Amway friends, John and Pat. Rest in peace Pat. Now you are in Heaven with my father who passed 11/1/2021.
