Meta Vee McGahey Bell found peace December 13, 2013 after a long, but courageous battle. Meta survived Lloyd E. Bell, her husband of 63 years, missed him dearly and has now rejoined him.

Meta was the eldest of three daughters born to Oma L. and Lydia Cash McGahey, in Brownwood, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her oldest son, Lynn Erle Bell, and sister Nanelle Dructor.

Meta is survived by her children Bill Bell (Denise), Christine Shaw (David), Kate Riggs (Paul), daughter-in-law Darlene Bell, many grandchildren, one great grandchild; sister Sally M. Atnipp (her husband, H.L.), many cousins, nephews and her dearest niece, VeeAnn Atnipp Cross

Meta taught fourth grade in Hampton for more than twenty-five years. She loved her family, reading, bridge, flowers and living in Williamsburg.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4:30 to 6:30pm at Bucktrout of Funeral Home, 4124 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday at Bucktrout Funeral Home with a burial to follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

    My fondest memories of Meta Vee are playing bridge twice a month with her. I shall always remember her wonderful laugh as we all tried to do our best with the "cards" we were dealt. God bless Meta and Lloyd.
