Maurice M. Johnson

Maurice M. Johnson, 90 of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019.
Maurice is preceded in death by her parents, Williams and Elizabeth Morning; sister, Hazel Bostick; brothers, Williams Morning, Jr., Hugh Morning, James Morning, John Morning, Arthur Morning and son, James Johnson Jr.
She is cherished in memory by her loving children, Javene J. Hudson, Joyce J. Jackson (Ronald), Barbara J. Banks, and Matthews L. Johnson; grandchildren, James E. Hudson III (Renee’), Marvin T. Hudson (Shirley), Keith A. Pressey, Jr. (Erica), Kristin P. Anderson (Benjamin), Patrice Y. Banks, LaMar R. Banks (Carmen), Mark Johnson (Jamilah), Alvin Johnson, daughter-in-law Lillian Johnson; brother Horace Morning; sisters Quovadis Mae Cooke, Eunice White; eight great grandchildren and one step grandchild, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving and caring friends.
She worked for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation as an Interpreter for 24 years before her retirement.
Maurice enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, loved arts and crafts, especially drawing. She enjoyed fishing, traveling with her friends and had a great sense of humor. She was, strong, firm, loving and very proud of her children.
She began her studies with the Jehovah’s Witnesses in the early 1960’s and was baptized June 24, 1984. She remained a faithful pioneer with over 34 years of service until her health started to decline, and then she would use the hook-up phone service to remain connected. For comfort, she would often sing, “I will be faithful to the end, I will help you reach your goal”. She was well known by many in several Halls she attended.
There will be a memorial wake on Tuesday, February 5th, 2019 between the hours of 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM at Bucktrout of Williamsburg Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 6th, 2019 12:00 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5493 Mooretown Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188.
