Mary Elizabeth Nixon, 94, of Williamsburg, Virginia died Saturday September 9, 2017. She was born on June 16, 1923 to William Cecil & Birgit Renaut in Brooklyn, New York. She married Captain Howard L. Nixon on September 21, 1946 who predeceased her in January of 2003. She is survived by 2 daughters Karen L. Nixon of Williamsburg and Mary L. Kingston and husband Fred of Port St Lucie, Florida, along with 2 sons, David W. Nixon and wife Linda of Pittsboro, NC and Howard L. Nixon Jr of Murrells Inlet, SC. She is predeceased by her brothers Charles and William. Mary was a proud grandmother to 7 children and an equally proud great grandmother to 4. She was a long term member of the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. She and her husband had called Williamsburg home since 1987, moving there from New Jersey upon Howard’s retirement. She loved Williamsburg, the College of William & Mary, Busch Gardens and all the area has to offer. Mary will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, aunt, sister, cousin and grandmother. She enjoyed a good movie, a good book, a drink before dinner and traveling the world with her husband.
A memorial service for immediate family is planned in October. In lieu of flowers donations to the charity of your choice may be made in Mary’s name.
