Marilynn Ann Metzler, 81, formally of Littleton, CO, passed away on November 10, 2022. As a teacher for over 40 years, 28 were dedicated to second graders at Wilder Elementary in Littleton. Marilynn built a career in education committed to promoting literacy. She taught countless children to read and write, touching the lives of all who passed through her classroom door. As a mother she built a home overflowing with love, grounded in stability. Not just a place, but a presence, where we all were welcome to celebrate our triumphs or find solace in times of need.
Her steady hands created detailed art, sewed drapes and dresses, knitted pieces, soothed broken hearts, fed empty bellies and tended to skinned knees. Her heart was an open refuge. She was generous with her time, ever willing to listen, to help us feel heard, and know we are loved unconditionally.
In our grief we find gratitude that we have had the opportunity to share in her light. Though that light has gone out, we are all blessed to shine a little brighter having known, loved, and been loved by her.
Marilynn is preceded in death by grandson, Chandler Metzler, parents Dr Lawrence and Wilma Kroha, sisters Barbara Woods, Sharon DeLong, and brothers Lawrence and Richard Kroha. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, John H. Metzler; daughters, Katherine Weissenfluh (Kirk), Annemarie K. Metzler, Leanne Lorson (Seth); son John L. Metzler (Susan); sisters Karen Veryser (Thomas), Kris Piana (John), brother Thomas Kroha, grandchildren Chase Nau-Metzler, Gaige Metzler, Davis, Carter, Brooklynn, and Jackson Weissenfluh, Kylee Rivera, and Daniel Lorson.
