Gifts & Memorial Donations

Maria Antoinette Rosso, 68, died peacefully in Riverside Hospital of Newport News, Virginia, on May 6, 2017, surrounded by her husband and children. Maria was born in Rochester, Pennsylvania, to parents Leo and Marianne Bianco(Caltury).  She lived in Monaca, Pennsylvania, for 37 years before moving to Virginia Beach, Virginia, in 1986.  She spent the last 22 years of her life living in Wiliamsburg, Virginia, surrounded by all of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Rosso, formerly of Ambridge, PA; daughter, Krissy Palasthy(Nickles) and her partner Stephen Cunningham; son, David Nickles and his wife Ann ; daughter, Marisa Broaddus(Rosso) and her husband Chad; daughter, Mandi Ghoreishi(Rosso)and her husband Ali; daughter, Shannon Rosso and her partner Michael Claiborne; daughter, Corina Rosso and her partner James Scarborough; daughter, Danielle Rosso and her partner John Langston; and son, Michael Rosso and his wife Lucy; her mother, Marianne Bianco; her mother in-law, Dorothy Rosso; her sister, Frances Matthews; her brothers William and Tina Bianco and Robert and Kathy Bianco; sister in-law, Tina and Bob Marshall; brothers in-law, Ronald Rosso and Jerry Rosso; her 19 grandchildren; her soon-to-be great granddaughter; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews,  and other extended family members; her dog, Bacardi; and Hines Ward, her favorite Pittsburgh Steeler.     She is also survived by a seemingly infinite number of people whose lives she injected with excitement and energy. She was truly one-of-a-kind, bringing the party with her everywhere she went, although the best parties were always at her house. Her love for the Pittsburgh Steelers and a glass of wine were rivaled only by her love for people. Maria’s husband considers her the light of his life, her children consider her their sage and champion and her grandchildren consider her the wildest “Gram” on the planet. She was a devout Catholic who enjoyed spending time in Southeast Florida, Pittsburgh and wherever else her family was. Maria was fiercely devoted to the well-being and happiness of her entire family. She was truly the glue holding together a giant, crazy Italian family. Her constant humor, terrific dance moves and tremendous Italian cooking will be dearly missed by all who encountered her. She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Bianco, her father in-law, Alvin Rosso and infant daughter, Elizabeth.  Maria’s family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of Riverside Hospital for caring for her and for accommodating her loud, loving family who spent much of her final days by her hospital bedside.   A memorial service will be held at 1pm, Friday, May 12, 2017, at Saint Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg, Virginia, 23188.  Immediately Following Mass, friends and family will gather for a celebration of Maria’s life, from 3pm-7pm, at King of Glory Lutheran Church Hall, 4897 Longhill Road, Williamsburg, Va.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Youth Foundation of Virginia Beach, Inc, PO Box 867, Virginia Beach, VA 23451 or online at VBYSC.org/donations.php.
