Gifts & Memorial Donations

Marguerite Martin, affectionately known as Maggie, peacefully passed away on November 27, 2023, in Virginia. Born in Canada, Maggie was a woman of many passions and a cherished member of her community. Her warm heart, kind spirit, and unwavering love for her family will forever be remembered.

Maggie had a zest for life and took pleasure in various activities. She was an accomplished competitive bingo player, always ready to claim victory. Her love for puzzles challenged her mind, and she could spend hours engrossed in unraveling their mysteries. An avid bird watcher, she found solace in observing the graceful flight and sweet songs of her feathered friends. Yet, above all, Maggie treasured the precious moments spent with her beloved family, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love.

As a respected and loved elder in her community, Maggie touched the lives of those around her through her kind and compassionate nature. She possessed a nurturing spirit that brought comfort to those in need, and her presence radiated warmth and serenity.

Maggie is now reunited in eternity with her parents, Joseph Martin and Suzanne Caplin, who preceded her in death. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, cherished by her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her son, Kevin (Christi) Viggiano; daughters, Frances (James) Eaton and Karen Viggiano; siblings, Mildred “Millie” Flenniken, Jean Martin, and Mary Wysote; grandchildren, Nicole Eaton, Emily Eaton, Danielle Eaton, Spencer Sofronko, and Peyton Sofronko; and great-grandchildren, Seth James Hardesty, Brooklynn Hardesty, Hudson Hardesty, Kinley Brooke Blackburn, and Jonah Sofronko.

A service to honor and remember Maggie’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 2:30 PM at Bucktrout Funeral Home.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her memory will forever live on in our hearts.

    Nancy Viggiano says:
We were all so young once. It seems as if it were just yesterday. Don’t trouble yourself. We’ll be sitting on the front porch at the beach again one of these summers. You doing 100 sit ups a day and still able to spell any word someone suggested. Margaret, we’ll miss you.
