BRIER, Margaret Allen, 84, artist, sculptor, U.S. Marine spouse, devoted mother and grandmother, went to our Lord on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at her Williamsburg, Virginia, home where she lived for the past 23 years. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on August 10, 1932, and was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence P. and Leora C. Allen, and her sister Charlene Weiss. She is survived by her two children: Georganne Brier John and her husband, Lawrence Michael John of Arlington; and Paul Willard Brier and his wife Rhonda Johnston Brier of Richmond; and her grandchildren, Austin Wade Brier and Allison Paige Brier both of Richmond. She will be missed by her extended family and life-long friends. Fondly known as “Jo” throughout much of her life, she attended middle school in Petersburg, graduated high school in Stuttgart, Germany, studied art at Kansas City Art Institute, and later studied sculpture at George Washington University. While living in Alexandria for many years, she was a creative designer for Buchanan and Kiguel, well known for its expertise in custom framing and art restoration.
