Gifts & Memorial Donations

Lorna was born in Toledo, Oh. On March 1st 1927. Her early years were spent at Spring Elementary School and at Whitmer High School. Growing up, Lorna enjoyed singing with her sister Diane at numerous local functions. Her family was very active at the Swiss Hall and the German American Turners. During her teen years she studied oil painting. She loved to have fun and travel. Her favorite trips include Switzerland to see where her father was from and to visit her relatives there. She also loved her trips to Hawaii, Florida and the Bahamas. Her other activities included bowling, crocheting and playing Pinochle, which she continued to do in her later years

In her work life, Lorna worked for 10 years at the MaíChere Beauty Salon in Toledo specializing in hair coloring. She made many friends there and loved her co-workers. Through the years she would talk about all of the fun times she had with them. She then worked for and retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Lucky, Oh.

Lorna moved to Virginia in 1994 where her daughter Shawn and husband Lee lived to begin her new life as ìNanaî to her grandchildren Grant and Danielle. She was thrilled to have her son, Michael follow her a few years later. She found so much joy in watching her grandchildren grow up, spending time with her son Michael and daughter Shawn, especially when they went to Chilis to celebrate. She also loved hearing about and watching all of the dancers at Broadway Dance Arts, her daughterís studio. She will be always loved and deeply missed by her family.

    cynthia mccormack says:
Lorna came into our lives 30 years ago. I needed someone to tend my children while I went to night school to finish my degree. I posted a note at the Toledo OH senior citizen's center and she was the only one who answered the post. I remember the first day she came to be interviewed...she interviewed me more than I interviewed her. She said she didn't "need" the job, so if my kids turned out to be unruly, she wouldn't keep the job. I liked her, so I agreed. The rest is history. She was my children's second grandma, and she and I became lifelong friends. She taught me so much. She was nothing if not practical and down to earth. The mother I never had. We shared so many good times, especially when there were margueritas involved! She will live on in the hearts of my children and me. She loved God, and I know she is with Him now. There will never be another Lorna.

Shawn and family, My heart goes out to you at this time. I remember your mom fondly from the old Juveneau Dance Studio days and from times spent at your house when we were young. May she rest in peace in Heaven.
