Gifts & Memorial Donations

Lois Blaha passed away peacefully on January 5. Lois was born in San Rafael, California in 1927. She grew up in Wahiawa, on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, where her parents owned an office supply store.

On December 7, 1941, Lois watched from her home while Pearl Harbor was attacked. Fearing an invasion of Hawaii, her parents sent her to California, where she attended high school and Stanford University, finally earning an associate degree at Armstrong Business College. She returned to Hawaii and worked as an executive assistant for the Dole Pineapple Company.

In 1953, Lois married then-Lieutenant Charles L. Blaha of the U.S. Coast Guard. Together, they traveled to assignments in New York, Connecticut, California, Alaska, Washington DC, and Yorktown, Virginia before retiring to Williamsburg.

Lois’s Christian faith was the bedrock of her life, and she lived it for all to see.

Lois and her husband Charles have three children and six grandchildren.

Lois’s family is deeply grateful for the love and care of the Williamsburg Landing staff throughout her 13 years of residence there.

A memorial service will be held at Woodhaven Hall at Williamsburg Landing on Friday, January 15 at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the US Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association. Online donations can be made through the Association website, www.cgaalumni.org. Donations by mail can be addressed to US Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association, 47 Mohegan Ave, New London, CT 06320. Donations made in Lois Blaha’s name will be directed to the Association’s Leadership and Management Fund.
