Linda Loyd, 65, a resident of Williamsburg, VA, died peacefully Monday, October 23, 2017, at home in the loving presence of her family.

She was a member of Bruton Parish Episcopal Church and was also involved at St. Martin’s Episcopal and St. Stephen Lutheran churches.

Linda earned her Bachelor of Arts from Christopher Newport University and a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School.  Her passions included ministry to youth and college students.  She was also committed to women’s prison ministry.

Linda’s appreciation of nature began during childhood camping trips with her family in the Pacific Northwest and it continued during their travels overseas.  Linda loved music, whether singing in school musicals or church choirs.  However, her favorite was singing for her children at bedtime.  She was always deeply devoted to her family.

Linda is survived by her husband, Gary Loyd; children Kelly Loyd, Jesse (Kelly) Loyd, Jacob (Katie) Loyd and Micah Loyd; grandchildren Brody Loyd, Brynn Loyd and Bailey Loyd; mother Ladonna Hutchinson, brother Rick (Christie) Hutchinson, as well as loved nieces, nephews and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her father, Dr. John Hutchinson and her brother, Kent Hutchinson.

Her memorial service and interment of ashes will be at 2pm, Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Bruton Parish Episcopal Church in Williamsburg, VA.  A reception will immediately follow at the Custis House across the street from the church.

From the moment I met Linda I thought how wonderful it was going to be to have in laws that we could get along with so well.My fondest memory was when Gary and Linda had come for a visit and were leaving and she said how sad she was to leave them and how lucky I was to live so close.I told Linda every time I kissed them I'd kiss them twice once for me and once for her.She gave me the biggest hug and there were tears in her eyes.I never leave our grandchildren that I don't kiss them twice.

Dear Mrs. Loyd - The Loyds were, without a doubt, my favorite next door neighbors in the history of 109 Little John Rd. You were always so kind (even though us kids didn't deserve it a lot of the time) and did an awesome job raising some bad a** kids. Carry on your goodness with the angels. Rest easy. Carrie

From my heart I send my condolences to the Loyd family. Although I did not know Linda well, I will never forget her beautiful, sweet smile. She was a wonderful and talented woman who devoted much of her time to helping others. I am certain that she will never be far from the memories of her family, friends, and the many others whose lives she touched.
