Lester Fitzgerald Picot, 62, passed away in Williamsburg on Sunday, April 16, 2023. Lester was born in Carrsville, VA in 1961 to Carrie and William Picot.

After High School, Lester dutifully served his country by joining the U.S. Army. During his time in the service, he received numerous decorations including Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Badge with Rifle Bar and Korea Defense Service Medal. After his time in the Army, Lester worked for several companies retiring as a Systems Engineer for the Aerospace Corporation. Lester graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer information systems from Strayer University and was still a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). Lester was always active in his community. He was a leader in the Boy Scouts and a mentor for several Eagle Scouts. He was a member of The VFW Post 7589 and Army Historical Foundation. Lester had a great passion for gardening. He worked in creating a community garden at Wellspring United Methodist Church and took pleasure in beautifying his home with his green thumb. Lester also enjoyed fishing and riding his Can Am Spider.

Lester is preceded in death by his brothers, Gregory and William Picot and a sister, Brenda Luster. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Gwendolyn “Wendy” Elizabeth Picot; sons, Royce Maynard Picot and Kyle Fitzgerald Picot; soon to be daughter-in-law, Vanessa Curry and siblings, Ursula Faulk, Johnnie Picot, Larry Picot and Stanley Picot. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive visitors from 3:00 – 6:00 pm on Sunday, April 23rd at Bucktrout Funeral Home located at 4124 Ironbound Road in Williamsburg. A Memorial Service will be held at Wellspring United Methodist Church, 4871 Longhill Road, Williamsburg, on Monday, April 24th at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm at Albert G Horton Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Lester’s Memory to the VFW Post 7589, P.O. Box 10206 Manassas, VA 20108.
