    Mike Thrift says:
I just learned of Gene's passing, and am so sorry for Juliane's, Ian's, Morgan's and Logan's loss of a terrific man. I had many great conversations and a lot of laughs with Gene at dozens of swim meets that wouldn't have been nearly as fun without him. He was always supportive of everyone's kids, and for years after our kids drifted to different teams he thoughtfully asked after his sons' old buddies. Gene had a very sharp wit and was razor smart. I really miss Gene.

    Lisa Veale says:
I was so very sorry to hear about Gene. I barely knew him, but my son Ben swam CYAC with Ian a few years ago and whenever I ran into Gene at a swim meet at FUMA he always went out of his way to say hello and ask how Ben was doing or comment on one of Ben's races. He was a very kind man. I am so sorry for your loss.
