Asbury Park, NJ. ñ Kathleen E. McKowne, 75, passed away on July 5, 2014 at her residence in New Jersey. Kathleen touched many lives at the Jersey Shore since moving here in the late 60ís and she will be greatly missed by her many friends at Asbury Park Towers, on the ocean front in Asbury Park, NJ. She enjoyed a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean from her seaside apartment, as well as the salt air in her lungs as she walked her faithful companion ìBuddyî on his daily routine. She enjoyed the companionship of several cats over the years as well. Her faith guided her actions, as an active participant in many groups over the years at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.She would often put others needs ahead of her own.
She was a graduate of Saint Elizabethís Academy in Convent Station, and Berkley Secretarial School.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Frances McKowne, her brother Hugh, and sister Frances. She is survived by her sister Eileen with her husband Peter, and her 6 children: Ben and wife Bobbie Burbic, Mark Burbic, Paul Burbic and his wife Debbie, Eileen Burbic, Michael Burbic and Patrick Burbic. Several grandchildren and great ñ grandchildren will also miss their Nana; Stephen Burbic, Tiffany Lockard and her husband Steve, and their son Gavin. Kate Burbic, Jessica, Justin, and Jenna Burbic, Brandon Burbic and his wife Michaela, and their children Isabella and Brandon jr..Erica Bracero with her children Bryson and Caleb. Logan Burbic and Patrick Burbic Jr.
Kathleen always spoke of Hattie, Frank, Kathy and Charles, what wonderful friends they were, the family wishes to thank these special people , along with the many others that assisted Mom during her times of need.
Kathleen loved animals very much and would always care for a stray. With this thought in mind, a gift to your local animal shelter in her remembrance would be greatly appreciated.
A memorial service will be conducted in September.
