Kathleen Carol Cassara

May 28, 1944 - January 9, 2024

Kathleen Carol Cassara passed peacefully from this earthly life on Tuesday, January 9, 2023. She was a resident of Williamsburg, Virginia. She was born in New York City to Italian immigrants and was proud of her Italian-American heritage. She lived most of her life in Hicksville, NY. In 2013, she moved to Williamsburg to marry the love of her life, Ben Cassara.

She worked in several settings as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed acting and had some small roles in film and TV. She was an avid reader who participated and led book clubs, enjoyed meetups, traveling, and creating art in many forms. She was an expert Scrabble player and could beat just about anybody. In the last few years she became an accomplished baker and loved to entertain. She was quite talented at technical and mechanical things and would work diligently to solve related problems no now matter how long it took. She did not give up easily. She was a generous, loving, and talented woman with a great sense of humor and a hearty laugh who will be greatly missed. She was devoted to her family and they could always count on her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mario and Concetta Pane; her first husband, Clifford Brown; her second husband, Ben Cassara; and her beloved kitty, Yo-Yo.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Brown and wife, Rachel; her beloved granddaughter, Chloe; her sister, Angela Pane Stroup, and husband Thomas; her brother, Charles Pane and wife Pamela; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

The family wishes to express deep gratitude to Kathy’s friends and neighbors who aided her during her illness: Lois, Susie, Jane, Norma, Kristie, and Annette were amazing helpers.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease Foundation: https://cjdfoundation.org/donate/
in hopes that more can be learned about this rare and incurable disease.
