Katherine Marie Baker, age 78, went home to the Lord on October 23, 2014. Born in Earlhurst, VA, Kathy was a resident of Williamsburg since 1953. Kathy was a deeply spiritual follower of the Pentecostal faith and was a longtime member of Greensprings Chapel. She operated her own beauty salon, Kathyís Beauty Shop, out of her home for many years. Kathy was, above all, a devoted family woman who found her greatest joy in caring for and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Cletris Waid, her brother Jessie Harold Waid, and her beloved husband Raymond E. Baker Jr. She is survived by her son Donald Wayne Baker of Williamsburg, her brothers Russell N. Waid of Norge and Gordon W. Waid of Newport News, grandchildren Lara Susanne Munoz (Nic), Christina Marie Baker, and Donald Raymond Baker (Marta), as well as five great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 26, 2014, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Bucktrout Funeral Home, 4124 Ironbound Rd., Williamsburg, VA. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 27, at 1:00 pm at Williamsburg Memorial Park, 130 King William Dr., Williamsburg.
