Katharine Crane Purrington passed away after a brief illness on January 19, 2024. Katharine was born in 1932 to Philip and Ann Purrington. She grew up in Grafton Massachusetts. She attended high school at the Northfield School (now Northfield Mount Herman school) and graduated in 1951. She continued her education at Colby-Sawyer College and graduated in 1953.
Katharine lived in many communities across the United States, including San Francisco California, Westboro Massachusetts, Fairfield Connecticut, and Williamsburg Virginia. She had a successful career in banking, culminating in her position as a trust officer at the Bank of New York Mellon. Katharine retired from the Bank of New York Mellon in 1998 and was thrilled to live her retirement years in Williamsburg Virginia. Katharine loved exploring the history of Williamsburg and Jamestown Virginia. She was active with her time and knowledge, volunteering for local non-profit organizations.
Katharine is survived by her sister Nancy Cook, her nephews Stephen Weaver and David Weaver and their families, and her countless cousins. She will be missed.
