Joseph Patrick Reinecke, 78, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away on January 1, 2024.

He was born in Newport News in 1945 to William T. Reinecke and Annie Louise Monk Reinecke. Pat, as most people called him, was the youngest of three boys.  The family moved to Williamsburg where he attended Walsingham Academy and James Blair High School, graduating in 1963.

Pat’s dedication to serving the community as Captain of the Williamsburg Fire Department defined a legacy of unwavering courage and selflessness. His fellow firefighters were family, and he stood as a pillar of mentorship, friendship, and often a guiding fatherly presence. His courage and passion for service was unwavering, a testament to his commitment to the community he served. While his professional accomplishments were significant, it was Pat’s passions outside of work that truly defined him.  A friend to everyone he met, he exuded generosity and enjoyed helping others. His capacity to be a devoted friend was endless.

Pat’s love for boating, fishing, and happy hour with friends at the marina was well-known to those acquainted with him. Following retirement from the fire department, he embraced several years as the marina’s dockmaster in Queenslake. Antiquing and mastering the pool table were also among his passions. But his true joy lay in the countless friendships he made throughout his life. His departure leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of countless friends and family members, a testament to the profound impact he made in their lives.

Pat was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Carla whose happiness and welfare were always his priority.   In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother Rev. Monsignor William T. Reinecke, Jr.  He is survived by his children, Michele McTague and her husband Matt and Richard Reinecke and his wife Heather; grandsons Scottie and Ryan McTague, Parker and Jordan Reinecke; great-grandchildren Addie and Cayden McTague.  He is also survived by his brother Ralph Reinecke and his wife Judy along with his niece Emily and nephew Alex.
