Joseph Andrew Bailey

Joseph Andrew Bailey, born on March 8, 1952, peacefully passed away on November 8, 2023, at the age of 71. He was born in Virginia and resided in Williamsburg, VA at the time of his death.

Joseph was a dedicated firefighter for the City of Williamsburg and also worked as a bus driver throughout his life. He was passionate about his work and took pride in serving his community.

Outside of his professional life, Joseph had a deep love for hunting and spending time outdoors. However, his greatest joy came from his family and grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with his wife of many years, Vicki (Schlegel) Bailey, his son Douglas J. Bailey, his daughter Shannon (Bailey) Worley, and his son-in-law Troy Worley.

Joseph is survived by his sister Marsha Troutman (Jackie), his brother Matthew Bailey (Mary), and his nieces Kim (Troutman) Dillard and Amy (Troutman) Needham. His grandchildren, Hunter Worley, Zachary Worley, William Bailey, and Adelynn Kellam, also brought immeasurable happiness to his life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, from 4pm to 6pm to honor Joseph’s memory. The event will take place at Bucktrout Funeral Home, 4124 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188. A reception to follow after the service at his daughter’s residence of 326 Wilkinson Drive, Williamsburg VA 23188 after the celebration.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the City of Williamsburg’s Fire Department. Joseph’s commitment to his career and his community lives on through this meaningful gesture.

Joseph Andrew Bailey will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy lives on in the hearts of his loved ones.
