Gifts & Memorial Donations

John Mills Bangit, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away on December 15, 2023, at the age of 70. Born on December 10, 1953, John leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

John dedicated over four decades of his life to the financial services industry, leaving an indelible mark on his profession. Prior to that, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to duty and service.

While his professional accomplishments were significant, it was John’s passions outside of work that truly defined him. First and foremost, he was a man of deep faith, finding solace and strength in his relationship with God. His devotion to his family was unwavering, and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He found joy in fishing, hunting, geology, and history.

John will be profoundly missed by his adoring family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Janice B. Bangit; his son, David B. Bangit, and daughter-in-law, Dr. Rachel K. Bangit; his daughter, Virginia M. Bangit; his beloved grandchildren, Isaiah, Grace, William, Kiersten, and Alyssa; his sister, Victoria B. Baum; his brother-in-law, Clark Blackwell; his sister-in-law, Juli Blackwell, as well as Lucy Ellen Baldwin; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

He is preceded in death by his father, Edward N. Bangit; his mother, Louise M. Bangit; as well as his brothers Michael M. Bangit and David M. Bangit.

The family invites friends and loved ones to pay their respects during the visitation on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  Following the visitation, a service will be held to honor and celebrate the life of John Mills Bangit.

John will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. We have comfort knowing that John trusted in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. May his memory forever be a blessing to those who loved him.

When I met “Mr. Bangit” over 15 years ago I never could have imagined the impact he would have on my life and my family’s life. From day one, as a friend of Virginia’s, I was a another daughter to him. Mr. Bangit turned in to Papa John to me, when I met my husband he was Big John, and when I had my son another generation would call him papa. In every conversation he always had a lesson, a connection , a laugh or all three together. I will cherish all of our many memories with him. Rest high on the mountain Papa John.
