Gifts & Memorial Donations

John G. Prassas, 94, of Williamsburg was born on October 18, 1928 and passed away on October 26, 2022. He was an immigrant who came to the United States as a young man looking for a better life. He found happiness as a restauranteur, husband and father. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. An avid sportsman, he lived vicariously through his children’s sports throughout their high school years and followed any and all sports throughout his life. He loved to read the daily paper, discuss world events and he enjoyed his ‘voltas’ for coffee. He often said that everyday was a blessing, when in fact, it was a blessing to be part of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alexandra Prassas and his daughter Katherine Protogyrou. John is survived by his daughters; Joanne Prassas (Thom), Maria Williams (Joe); son, George Prassas (Rita) and son-in-law, Andrew Protogyrou; grandchildren, Antoni and Demetra Protogyrou; Alexis, Chrisanthi, and Yianni  Prassas; one sister, Koula Kortesis of Greece and numerous nieces and nephews both in the United States and Greece.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Williamsburg, VA. A viewing will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Williamsburg, VA. on Monday, October 31, 2022 from 6:00-7:30 with a Trisagion at 7:00 PM. It was a delight and pleasure to meet Mr. Prassus when I visited Maria and Joe in 2017. His sense of humor and fun were infectious.
