Jesse Lee Mathias, 67, passed away unexpectedly in Williamsburg, VA on Friday, September 10, 2021.

Jesse was born in Shenandoah County, VA to Elroy and Patricia (Lichliter) Mathias. He married his high school sweetheart, Belinda, and together they grew their own family. Jesse worked at Smurfit Stone Paper Mill until his retirement last year. He was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, golf and riding motorcycles. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Jesse is survived by his parents, Elroy and Patricia Mathias; his loving wife of 47 years, Belinda Mathias; his children, Brett (Heather) Mathias, Amanda (Phillip) Hershberg; a brother, Mark Mathias and his grandchildren, Brandon Mathias and Madeline and Olivia Hershberg.

A celebration of Jesse’s life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to his three grandchildren’s college education fund through Baylands Family Credit Union, account #77, P.O. Box 392 West Point, VA 23181, (804) 843-2520. All contribution will go to Brandon Mathias and Madeline and Olivia Hershberg.
