Jean Eleanor Thompson Philipp, of Williamsburg, Virginia, completed her earthly journey on September 16, 2017, and was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her faith in God and the strength He provided her was central in her life and was exhibited clearly in her devotion, care, and love as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She always put her family first and was the happiest when spending time with them. She enjoyed people and had an amazing way of making friends with everyone she met. Jean was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Frank and Anna Thompson on April 4, 1930. Left to cherish wonderful memories are her eight children (four by birth and four by marriage): Keith and June Philipp of Columbia, MD, Bruce and Cynthia Philipp of Johnson City, TN, Donna and Jimmy Johnson of Mechanicsville, VA, Cheri and Scott Cooke of Suffolk, VA; six grandchildren: Steve (Linda) Philipp of Wilmington, NC, Kristel (Doug) Ruch of Hanover, MD, Mark Philipp of Columbia, SC, Scott Philipp of Kingsport, TN, Megan (Justin) Wyman of Midlothian, VA, Brittany (Philip) Sprouse of Mechanicsville, VA; two step-grandchildren: Taylor (Lauren) Johnson of Quinton, VA, Emory Johnson of Quinton, VA; eleven great-grandchildren: Sean, Gunner, and Scout Philipp, Jade Gregg, Dylan, Kaleb, Blake, and Bryce Ruch, Harrison Wyman, Kaleb and Kaley Sprouse; one step-great-grandchild: Sophie Augustynski; one great-great-grandchild: Shane Gregg; and many friends and neighbors. A memorial service will be held at Walnut Hills Baptist Church in Williamsburg at 3:00pm on September 19, 2017, with Rev. Dr. Jerry Haywood, Pastor Emeritus, officiating.
