Gifts & Memorial Donations

James A Jolly, 85, of Toano, VA, passed away on April 20, 2023.

James was born at St. Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ and  attended St. Peter’s High School.  He retired in 1999 after a career with Public Service Electric and Gas in New Jersey, and moved to Williamsburg in 2013.

James was a humble soul who never wanted to be the center of attention, but always had a curious story when asked.  He loved and was proud of his family who he worked hard to provide for.  He was interested in history and genealogy, took great care to research his family’s history, and served for a time as the secretary of the Genealogy Society of NJ.  James had a passion for music, loved to drum, and enjoyed old westerns particularly Gunsmoke.  He had a nostalgia for the era in which he grew up collecting DVDs of TV shows and movies of the 50s and 60s.  He enjoyed Seinfeld so much that his grandsons became fans after watching reruns with him.

James is survived by his wife of 57 years, Georgean, his sons James and Michael, their wives Amanda and Yoko, and three grandchildren, Palmer, Brayden, and Shiloh.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a contribution to Fresenius Kidney Care, 6726 Mooretown Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23188.
