Jacqueline J. Runyans

Jacqueline “Jackie” Runyans, age 86, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021. She died peacefully at her home in Virginia Beach, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in 1935 in Bailey, North Carolina.  She moved to Williamsburg at the age of 5.  Left to cherish her memory include her children, Glenn Pace (Betty) of Newport News, Sharon Howard (Andy) of Virginia Beach and grandson Seth Tarkenton of Atlanta.   Predeceased by her devoted mother, Flonnie and son, Willis.

Jackie lived a full life as a wonderful daughter, mother, and grandma.  She spent 40 years with the Colonial Services Board, finishing her career in 2003, where she was well known and admired.

Jackie was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman.  Most of all she loved her family and instilled strong values that have served them well.  She will be dearly missed and forever in their hearts.   She was an animal lover and had recently adopted a calico kitten named Piper which brought her much joy.

She loved to spend time with her family traveling the world.   She especially enjoyed Disney World and going on cruises to explore different cultures.   Her last trip was in May to watch her grandson Seth graduate from James Madison University.   In her retirement, she enjoyed her weekly outings with very special ladies to enjoy a Bible study and lunch.   She was a member of Williamsburg Methodist Church.

A graveside service will be held at Williamsburg Memorial Park on Tuesday, September 21 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Dalton Stoltz officiating.  As an expression of sympathy, a memorial donation may be made to Magpie & Daisy’s Pet Rescue, 1032 Wippingham Parkway, Carrolton, VA 23314.
