Jaan Kay (Fontaine) Harris of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024 at the age of 75 surrounded by adoring family and friends. She was a dedicated homemaker whose greatest joys in life were found in the simple pleasures of taking pictures of loved ones, writing letters and sending cards for birthdays and celebrations, crafting handmade treasures, and collecting souvenir spoons. Her interests spanned from sewing and quilling to visiting the beach and delighted in collecting and gifting Hallmark Christmas ornaments.

Jaan was a cherished member of various organizations, including the VFW in Williamsburg, VA, the Ladies of Virginia (Knights of Columbus), and Saint Olaf Catholic Church. She was born in New Jersey and raised in Jacksonville, Florida where she later graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1966.  She then went on to earn her associates in Medical Technology from Andrew College in Georgia. Jaan held a variety of part-time jobs while raising her children and throughout her adult life.

Jaan is survived by her devoted husband, David T. Harris; her children Philip Eric (Laurie) Dondorf and Gretchen (Ryan) Federbusch; stepchildren Charles (Mary), Michael (Tara), and Robert Harris, and Eileen (Charles) Newara; her sister Nancy (John) Zotto; grandchildren Dylan Federbusch, Vivian Dondorf, and Brody Dondorf; step-grandchildren Peter and Daniella Newara, Justin (Sage Blais) Machuga, Madison, Landon, Kensley Harris, and Michelle (Seth) Constable and Matthew and Mark Harris; step-great-grandchildren Eden Constable, Liliana and Jackson Machuga, and Clara and Amelia Blais; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jaan was preceded in death by her loving mother, Julia ‘Julie’ Fontaine; father, William ‘Bill’ Fontaine, Sr.; younger brother, William ‘Billy’ Fontaine, Jr.; nephew, Timothy Ryan Fontaine; and father of her children, Rodney Dondorf.

The family will receive friends at Bucktrout Funeral Home on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a funeral mass following on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 1 PM at St. Olaf Catholic Church. Memorial donations can be made to St. Olaf Catholic Church of Williamsburg and Virginia Knights of Columbus.
