Izona J. Mankin Best went to be with our Lord on Nov. 16, 2014 at the age of 98. She passed away gently during the early evening hours where she had been a resident of Patriots Colony at Williamsburg Retirement Center, Williamsburg, VA. She was born in Trumbull, Nebraska on Sept. 24, 1916 to Clinton and Trella Mankin. She was a longtime resident of Annandale, Yorktown, and Williamsburg, Virginia. During her life span she was a teacher and a homemaker. She also enjoyed oil painting, playing the piano, singing, and floral arranging. She was the founding president of Womanís Club of Seaford, Seaford, Virginia. She is survived by her sister Roena Manneschreck of Lewiston, Idaho and children Stoddard L. Best and his wife Cecilia of Phoenix, Arizona, daughter Carolyn Best Miller and husband Roy of Denham Springs, Louisiana, and daughter Delona Ann Best of Lynchburg, Virginia. Grandchildren are Dawn M. Best Boisvert, Ben D. Best, Corey L. Best, Steven M. Miller, and Brian D. Miller. Great-grandchildren are Avery R. Boisvert, Sophia E. Miller, Colin F. Boisvert, Levi A. Miller, Gavin G. Miller, and Reagan E. Miller. She is preceded in death by her husband Dale D. Best and son Norman Dale Best, brothers Cloyde Mankin, Dean Mankin, Wilbur Mankin, Blake Mankin, and sister Arlene M. Pfeiffer. A memorial service was held Thursday, November 20 at Patriots Colony. Donations in her memory may be sent to University of Nebraska in Kearney, Nebraska. Bucktrout of Williamsburg funeral home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
