Irma May Parker

Irma May Parker died on Saturday, November 3, 2018, in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Born August 2, 1926 in Sebrell, VA, she was the daughter of Oscar Eugene Parker, Sr. and Irma May Reese. She married Herbert Wesley Parker on June 25, 1949. Mrs. Parker graduated from Radford College with a Business Education degree in 1948. Upon completion of her studies, she initially taught business in the Disputana and Prince George school systems. In later years, she taught math and social studies at Enon Elementary and Chester Middle School, both in Chesterfield County.

She was a lifelong active member of the United Methodist Church and various social and civic clubs. Most recently, she attended Williamsburg United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert; her siblings – Dorothy Reese Parker and Oscar Eugene Parker, Jr. She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Dennis Cooper of Chantilly, VA, Carol Parker and Nick Trinh of New Hope, PA, and Susan and John Drean of Richmond, VA; her much loved life-long friend, Dr. William G. Batte of Williamsburg; her dear sister-in-law, Mary C. Parker of Brunswick, GA; six grandchildren, one grandson-in-law, two great grandchildren, three nieces, two nephews, and two cousins she loved very much.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 11:00 am at Williamsburg United Methodist Church. Visitation will take place 30 minutes prior to service. A reception at the church will follow the service. Interment will be private at Williamsburg Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice House of Williamsburg, the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, or the Solebury United Methodist Church for Community Concerns Uganda.
