Heather Grace McGahen, at age 79 of Williamsburg, Virginia passed unexpectedly but peacefully at her home amongst members of her family, including her loving husband Graham and son Nathan. Heather was born in Glebe,a suburb of Sydney Australia. In 1987 Heather’s husband of 55 years moved the family, including son, Nathan, and daughter, Lisa, to accept a two-year position at his firm in Manhattan. The family resided in Summit New Jersey. Heather‘s two year visa precluded her from seeking employment in the United States so she became very involved in charitable ventures, namely elementary school systems. In 1988 our family returned to Sydney for another position. Then in 1990 we move back to the US. Heathers’s only condition was the move had to reside in Summit given both children had friends and desired to assimilate. Heather was leaving her parents and close friends again and it was for good. She voted to keep the family together. At age 60 both parents decided to retire. Heather had been employed by Summit high school for 11 years as a librarian assistant. She was honorably granted tenure after volunteering at the library for years. We moved from New Jersey and rented an apartment in Williamsburg Virginia before making the move to the beautiful gated community known as Fords Colony. Heather was appreciative of her lifestyle and her contribution to the community. Finally, she was particularly proud of her grandchildren Kyleigh and Reid. And especially their parents, Matt and Lisa. She is so missed.
