Gifts & Memorial Donations

Harriett Dale Pickin, 73, went to be with the Lord on August 30th, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was an amazing woman of faith who was devoted to her family and loved her family fiercely.

Dale was a native of Williamsburg born to parents Charles and Marjorie Ferrell.  She graduated from James Blair High School, and Bauder College in Atlanta, GA.

Dale had a unique personality and a sincerity that is not often found, but easily remembered after meeting her.  Dale was known for helping anybody who asked by giving of herself fully, and would tirelessly help those she loved. She fully committed herself to what she involved herself in. She was a AKC and UKC breeder and handler and a member of The National Redbone Coonhound Association and proudly showed several national champion dogs. She was on the the Board of Directors of the Virginia Peninsula Sportsman’s Association and shared in many activities over the years with her family and friends.

Dale committed herself to making lasting memories with her granddaughters and teaching them all she knew. She considered the time she spent with them to be priceless.

Dale is preceded in death by her best friend and loving husband of 41 years, Kenny Pickin.  She is survived by her son, Ben Pickin and his wife Becky, and her beloved granddaughters whom she cherished, Eleanor and Charlotte Pickin as well as extended family.

A visitation will be held 10 AM September 8th at Bucktrout Funeral Home, with a service to follow at 11 AM.  Burial will take place at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
