Hale Park Castleman, 80, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Sentera Hospital in Williamsburg, Virginia following a brief illness.
He leaves his wife, Doris Castleman; his daughter, Stephanie Castleman-Argue; his son, Chris Castleman; step-daughter, Amy Presas; his granddaughters, Olivia Castleman-Dry and Haley Castleman; his grandsons, Tristian Castleman, Cameron Castleman, John Argue and many loved extended family members.
Born in Brookline, Massachusets, he was raised initially in Stanton, Kentucky and grew to manhood in†Chicago, Illinois.
He enlisted in the United States Army and fought in Vietnam, †served in France, Germany, Korea, as well as duty stations here in Virginia. †He retired as a Sergeant Major after 25 years of service and later from Ft. Eustis, VA. as a Civil Servant.
He helped form the Peninsula Sky Divers Club in West Point, Virginia and started training for beginners there. His passions were skydiving, Harley Davidsons, and Austin Healeyís. †
A Memorial Service will be held†May 18th at 6:00 pm†at St. Martins Episcopal Church in Williamsburg, VA. The burial will be private.
With these few lines we say farewell to a gentleman and a truly gentle man; a soft spoken Sergeant Major whose actions spoke constantly even if he did not; a husband; a father; a friend; a kindness that more of us needed to see; and a quiet competence that touched everyone and everything that came into his life . . .he will be missed.
