Geneva ìScibbieî Halslip Jeter, 83, died peacefully in Williamsburg, Virginia on February 2, 2015.

Scibbie was born in Roanoke, Virginia December 21, 1931. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Samuel Preston Jeter. She moved to Richmond, Virginia and worked at Richmond Dry Goods and Miller & Rhoads. She met Sam and they built a wonderful life together centered on her family and friends in Newport News and Richmond Virginia spending her last 26 years in Kingsmill, Virginia.

She was a devoted mother and is survived by her children Sandy Jeter Smith of Richmond, Virginia and her husband, Thomas K. Smith; Robin Jeter Byars of Richmond, Virginia and her husband Harold Byars and her son Brian Preston Jeter of Edenton NC and his wife Layne.

Scibbie was as wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother who adored her grandchildren and they loved and cherished their grandmother. She is survived by Kelly Smith Little and her husband, C. Malcolm Little IV and her great-grandson Charles Malcolm Little V. of Washington DC and Preston Tyler Smith of New York City; Ashley Lee Byars of Richmond Virginia and Carter McDaniel Byars of Charleston, SC; Preston Lane Jeter of Los Angeles, CA and James Ryland Jeter also of Charleston, SC.

Scibbie was an exceptional flower arranger and won awards over the years from her garden clubs. She was proud of the flower work she did for Williamsburg Community hospital and she hosted the Colonial Williamsburg Christmas Garden Show providing them with glorious flower arrangements. She loved the time she and Sam spent on their boat the White Cloud in Deltaville and the Kingsmill marina. She loved to dance, entertain and enjoyed all her childrenís and grandchildrenís sporting and school events throughout her life. She and Sam enjoyed 22 years of winter in Sanibel, Florida.

Her funeral service will be at Bucktrout Funeral home in Williamsburg Virginia on Thursday February 5, 2015 at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow the service at the same location. She will be laid to rest in the Jeter family plot at Walnut Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Mechanicsville, Virginia Friday February 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
