Garland W. Brinson, Jr., beloved son, brother, father, and friend, peacefully passed away on July 10, 2023, at the age of 62 in Williamsburg, VA. He was born on May 10, 1961, in Virginia to the late Garland W. Brinson, Sr. and Jo Ann Brinson.
Garland was a dedicated shipbuilder for the Newport News Shipbuilding, where he poured his heart and soul into his work. He took great pride in his craftsmanship and commitment to excellence. Working was not just a job for him; it was a significant part of his life.
When he wasn’t busy building ships, Garland enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved grand-dogs. He cherished the moments shared with his children, Adam Brinson and Kelsey Birch (Kevin). Garland’s presence will be sorely missed but forever remembered by those who love him.
In his free time, Garland relished the simple pleasures of life. He found solace in sipping coffee, engaging in home improvements, and building various things with his own hands. Garland had a particular fondness for classic cars, appreciating their timeless beauty and craftsmanship.
Garland is survived by his children, Kelsey Birch (Kevin), Adam and Brittany Brinson, his mother, Jo Ann Brinson, and his brothers, Jeff and Craig Brinson. His memory will also be cherished by extended family members and friends who were fortunate enough to have known him.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Garland’s life will be held on Friday, July 14th, at 6:00 PM at Bucktrout Funeral Home. During this time, family, friends, and loved ones will gather to pay their final respects and find solace in each other’s presence.
Garland W. Brinson, Jr. will forever be remembered for his dedication, love for his family, and the pride he took in his work. His absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt, yet his spirit will always live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
