Francine “Fran” Turner, 79, of Williamsburg, passed away on December 10, 2023, of natural causes.
Fran was born in East Orange, NJ and lived throughout the state. In 1988, she moved with her family to Williamsburg, VA where she established life-long friendships in Longhill Woods, St. Georges Hundred, and Longhill Gate communities. Fran, whose passions were antiques, interior design, and realty, was a co-proprietor of Closed on Wednesday’s antique shop near Kingsmill before joining Colonial Williamsburg. She finished her career in 2015 with Williamsburg Landing.
Fran was deeply loved by her children and friends and known to many throughout the Williamsburg community. She took pride in being a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, which focuses on women’s advancement and philanthropy. Always inviting and invited, Fran enjoyed table games, wine, good food, and conversation. Above all, Fran’s greatest joy was spending time with her six grandchildren.
Fran was preceded in death by her husband James “Jim” Turner and her brothers Patrick and Frank Montagna. She is survived by her son J. Austin Turner and his wife Jieun Shim; daughter Katelyn Y. Voglewede and her husband Andrew; and grandchildren Carson and Cora Turner and Natalie, Zachary, Nicholas, and Samantha Voglewede.
A celebration of Fran’s life will be held at Bucktrout Funeral Home on Ironbound Road in Williamsburg on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 2:00PM. The family invites you to join them immediately following the service for light refreshments in the reception room.
