Gifts & Memorial Donations

It is with deep sadness that the family of Eleanor Suddath announces her passing on March 25, 2023, at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer.
Eleanor was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Arthur and Sarah Picken. She graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Home Economics and subsequently enjoyed teaching professional sewing and substitute teaching.
Eleanor will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by Jack, her husband of 50 years. Her son Jay Suddath and his wife Courtney (Houston, Texas), daughter Fran Hoy (Boston, Massachusetts), and step-daughters Cindy Nichols (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Sue Tomney (Calgary, Canada) are saddened by her sudden departure. She was predeceased by her mother and father, brother Arthur Jr., and her daughter Whitney. She will also be missed and remembered fondly by nephews Arthur (Sue) Picken and Al (Stephanie) Picken, her grandchildren Fisher, Macy, Jackson, Sarah (Mark), Charlton, Clifton (Kathleen), Aedan, Liam, Abby, Kate, and Cecily, and great grandchildren Miles and Seneca.
Eleanor loved traveling the world with her husband and particularly to their happy place, Wengen, Switzerland, where they returned, again and again, to hike and explore the countryside. She was also a dedicated member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Eleanor loved many dogs through the years, and her sweet mini golden doodle, Lacy, will miss her tremendously.
The family wishes to thank the exceptional team of medical professionals at Sentara Hospital for their care and compassion during an extremely difficult time.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, 215 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, VA.
If you wish, donations in memory of Eleanor may be made to the DAR Ann Wager Chapter to further their community work or to the Heritage Humane Society of Williamsburg.

    Celia (Cecie) Adolphi says:
Eleanor was a tenacious and gracious Southern lady. As Regent of the Williamsburg Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution when Eleanor became a chapter member, I always appreciated her ideas and enthusiasm in supporting the DAR Schools, and her lead in projects to provide resources to the DAR designated schools. We are saddened by Eleanor's sudden passing, and pray for comfort as each member of the family celebrates her life and remembers her in their own way.
