Gifts & Memorial Donations

Edward Naylor Richardson passed away of natural causes on May 22, 2018. He is deeply mourned by his family and many friends.

Ed was born to Philip Richardson and Mary “T” Richardson (of blessed memory) on October 4, 1963 in Williamsburg, VA. He was one of the first babies born in the new Williamsburg Community Hospital and the first baby baptized in the newly built Williamsburg United Methodist Church. The story is told that Ed was born a month early and his father was in NYC watching his beloved Yankees play the Dodgers in the World Series. The Yankees lost, but Ed remained a lifelong fan.

Ed graduated from Christchurch School and later served on the Board of Directors there. He also served for many years on the Williamsburg Economic Development Authority dedicated to the City he called home his entire life. He was Vice President of the Philip Richardson Company.

Ed was an avid lover of music, playing drums in numerous bands from Richmond to Atlanta during his younger years. He also loved the links, and was a former Club Champion at the Williamsburg Inn. He lived right across the street and played a couple holes there, rain or shine, every day with his dear friend Smitty and whomever showed up around 5:00 PM most evenings. His home was truly a gathering place where everyone felt welcome. Ed was the consummate host and his home, like so much in his life, a model of grace and warmth.

Ed’s pride and joy were his children Ryan Richardson, 17, a junior at Christchurch School, and Caroline Richardson, 15, a freshman at Walsingham Academy. He loved them more than anything on Earth.

Ed was predeceased, by 5 months, by his beloved mother, Mary “T” Richardson. He is mourned by his children, Ryan and Caroline Richardson, former wife Jennifer Richardson, his father, Philip Richardson, brother Whit Richardson and sister Sally Richardson (David) Porush among so many cousins, dear friends and nieces and nephews who loved “Uncle Eddie” and looked forward to every visit with him.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held at the Williamsburg Lodge (Virginia Room) on Tuesday, May 29th at 1:30 PM. Friends and family are invited to join us. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christchurch School, 49 Seahorse Lane, Christchurch, VA 23031. www.Christchurchschool.org.
