Donna Fines Bryant passed away on Wednesday, January 3, in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Donna was born on February 11, 1940, in Warsaw, New York.  After graduating from high school, she lived for a short time in her childhood hometown of Perry, New York before moving to Williamsburg.  There, she met her future husband, Raymond Bryant, whom she married in 1963.  Donna and Ray raised two children:  son, Douglas Wayne Bryant, and daughter, Deborah Ellen Sparlin.  The marriage endured for nearly 60 years until Ray’s passing in January 2023.

One of Donna’s greatest passions was her work as a floral designer.  In her earlier years, she created floral designs for Colonial Williamsburg.  Donna became a life member of the American Institute of Floral Designers and achieved the status of Certified Floral Designer.  After Ray’s retirement, Donna and Ray opened Royal Gardens Florist in Williamsburg.  Donna travelled to floral conventions and served as a judge for many of these meetings.  Donna’s floral arrangements provided the backdrop for countless milestone events and beautified numerous homes throughout Williamsburg and surrounding areas.

Donna had many other interests.  When the weather was good, you could usually find her in the yard of the Bryant home, tending to the manicured gardens that graced the property.  She also enjoyed reading and indulging in various craft projects.  In later life, she developed an interest in photography, not only taking the photographs but also printing, framing, and displaying the images.

In addition to her husband Ray, Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Bessie Fines, who lived in Williamsburg, and her son, Douglas Bryant, of Williamsburg.  Her surviving family includes her daughter Debbie Sparlin and her husband Dean Sparlin, both of Springfield, Virginia, her grandchildren, Christopher Sparlin of Springfield, Virginia and Cindy Sparlin of Watertown, Massachusetts, her brother, Robert Fines of Bealeton, Virginia, and her daughter-in-law, Doris Bryant of Williamsburg.
