In 1969, he met Patty Cupillari, the love of his life and they were married in 1971.

Mr. Humphreys was touched by God and was baptized into the Catholic faith at St. Bede Catholic Church in 2022. He loved attending Mass, learning about his religion and sharing this with family & friends.

He began his career as a teacher in Hagerstown, Maryland. Thereafter he worked for Wyeth-Ayerst pharmaceuticals for 35 years. He held positions as a sales representative, District Sales Manager, Director of Operations in marketing and sales and in training in the home office in the Philadelphia area. In addition, he worked at Inkine pharmaceutical as Vice President of Sales.

Delmas was a golf enthusiast and loved gardening, antique vehicles, truck restoration, traveling widely and volunteer work in his community and at church. He had a passion for life like no other and was a peaceable warrior. He was loyal to a fault and a man of his word. He most enjoyed spending time at their log cabin vacation home in “The Mountains” (West Virginia).

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Bede church. He will be celebrated most for his generosity, wit and humor, and was considered by many of his friends as a Professor of Nonsense, stories and tales.

Delmas was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Marjorie Sue, and brothers, Steve Clinton and Randall Joe.

He is survived by his wife, Patty, of 52 years, his brothers Paul Edward of Cowen, West Virginia, Gary Lee of Mableton, Georgia, sisters-in-law Mary Humphreys, Anne Humphreys, Brenda Humphreys, Becky McIy, numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Comfort Keepers and also a special thank you to the caregivers within The Hospice House of Williamsburg who ensured he was always treated with compassion, dignity and respect from the moment he arrived until his last breath.

A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, October 2nd at Bucktrout Funeral Home from 4-6pm.   A funeral mass for Delmas is scheduled for Tuesday, October 3rd at 11 am at St. Bede Catholic Church followed by interment at the church Columbarium. There will be a reception following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in his name to The Hospice House of Williamsburg, or The American Cancer Society.

It was with much sadness that I heard of Del's passing. We graduated together from Cowen High School in 1963 and spent 4 years together at Shepherd (College) University. Two of those years we were roommates. I have many memories of those years with Delmas and am sorry we did not keep in touch more. I saw him a time or two shortly after college graduation and at our 25th and 50th high school reunions. We both started as high school teachers, but Del went on to bigger and better things in the pharmaceutical business. I know he made many contributions to his college alma mater through the years. I remained a teacher until retirement in 2004. I always admired Del's success and drive and know he will be missed by those who he came in contact with. It was great to hear that he became a child of God in his later years.
