Gifts & Memorial Donations

In loving memory of our beloved Deborah Charlene Mosley, 62, of Newport News, VA peacefully passed away on January 21, 2022.

Deborah Charlene Hart was born January 27, 1959 to Earnest Hart and the late Ollie Mae Hart in Mobile, Alabama. After she graduated from Williamson High School in Mobile, Alabama in 1978, Deborah united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Melvin Mosley on June 15, 1979. They were together for over 42 years and have three wonderful children: Antonio (Tony), Melvin Jr., and Jeana.

In 1995, after supporting her husband throughout his military career to include numerous stateside assignments such as Fort Bragg, NC; Fort Lewis, WA; three tours in Germany, and Fort Eustis, VA; Deborah and Melvin established their home in Newport News, VA.

Deborah worked tirelessly as a dedicated childcare provider until her retirement in March of 2021. Deborah was admired and respected by her supervisors, coworkers, and parents of the children she cared for. She had the beautiful gift of patience and kindness as she worked with children and their parents daily. Her coworkers enjoyed eating her southern styled cabbage at event gatherings and special occasions.

Deborah loved Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ with all her heart and was an active member of the Denbigh North Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was an avid reader of the Bible and loved her congregation family. She especially enjoyed sharing in the ministry with the younger generation. She was also well known and beloved in the Atmore, Alabama congregation.

Deborah had a passion for interior design, personal styling, and gardening. Her special garden included a variety of plants such as herbs, peppers, and flowers. She liked doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed traveling to places such as the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, Hollywood, Las Vegas, Canada, Bahamas, Mexico, and many European countries to include her last trip to Spain in 2019.

Deborah is preceded in death by her mother, Ollie Mae Hart; and grandmother, Cleo Sealey-Wright. She is survived by her husband, Melvin Mosley Sr., sons: Antonio D. Mosley and Melvin Mosley, Jr. (Maryam Ulomi); daughter, Jeana C. Mosley; and siblings: Regina (David) McCants, Janet (Vincent) Mathews, Michael A. Hart, and Roderick J. Hicks; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 12:00PM to 1:00 PM at Bucktrout Funeral Home on Friday, January 28, 2022 with service and burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions  may be made in Deborah’s name to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
