David Wayne Adkins

In Loving memory of David Wayne Adkins who passed away quietly on December 27, 2020 in Williamsburg, VA at age 63.  He was born at Bell Hospital in Williamsburg, VA. On November 23, 1957 to Carole and Jimmie Adkins. He was a graduate of James Blair High school.

David retired from Eastern State Hospital after 16 years of dedicated service. He loved to fish on the sparkling waters of the James River with his favorite dog Ebony and Friends. David was a kind and gentle person with an infectious laugh who had a huge heart to help others. David volunteered with Williamsburg Faith In Action for several years and enjoyed attending all the functions they held during his volunteer days. David was a big Cowboys football fan! He was an avid gardener and enjoyed doing arts and crafts. David also enjoyed listening to George Strait and Alan Jackson music.

David is survived by his Mother, Carole Adkins Newman, his two brothers Ronnie Adkins and John Adkins, his Nephew-Troy Adkins and his Niece Katina Adkins Smith.

David is preceded in death by His father Jimmy Adkins, his step father, Bennie Newman and his beloved grandmother Hazel Handy.

The funeral service will be held at Bucktrout Funeral Home on Wednesday January 27th. The viewing will be from 11- 12 noon with the service beginning at 12:00. All are welcome to join at Williamsburg Memorial Park immediately following service, for a brief graveside at 130 King William Dr. Williamsburg.

In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to Williamsburg Area Faith in Action.

The Adkins family wishes to thank the following people for their lifelong friendships; Don Linger,  Stan Mecham, Betty Cross and Garland Brinson for all love, caring and happy  times they gave David throughout his years. To Agape’ Home Care for all the years of tender loving care. A very special Thank You to Paula Bonneau and Theresa Mcknown, David loved you all!
