Charles Elbert Swain, 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 10 2022 in Williamsburg, VA.
He was born in West Virginia to the late Elbert and Mossie Swain. He is also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jane Elizabeth; his brother, Donald Swain and his sisters, Charlotte Farmer and Patsy Swain. Charlie his survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Emma Halstead Swain; his son, Charles David Swain; daughter, Ethel Michelle Swain-Clauberg (Kevin); grandchildren, Casey Swain Clauberg and Emma (Everest) Clauberg and a brother, Bob Swain.
Before starting his family, Charlie attended and graduated from Mount Vernon Academy. He eventually made a career for himself as a business owner. He was a hard worker and owned his own business, Swain Window Cleaning, for 40 years. He was an active member of King of Glory Lutheran Church. He loved playing golf with his brothers and brother-in-law. He followed and loved cheering for the West Virginia University Mountaineers. He loved his children and grandchildren and took pride in taking care of or as some folks say spoiling them. He was a great peanut butter fudge maker and enjoyed donuts and Italian food.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30pm on Thursday, November 14th at King of Glory. He will be interred in the columbarium following services. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Peninsula Agency on Aging (www.panic.org) or to the Southeastern Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association (www.all.org/seva).
